Match Thread: Dynamo take on Tournament Host Charleston Battery

The Dynamo take on the Preseason tournament Host the Charleston Battery in their Carolina Challenge Cup Opener

The Houston Dynamo are looking to rebound after their first Preseason loss to the Austin Aztex last Wednesday which saw an own goal as the difference maker in their 1-0 defeat. Today they'll play the Charleston Battery, the host club in the Carolina Challenge Cup. The team will face off next week against MLS Newcomers Orlando City SC and New York City FC to finish off the tournament. The tournament may seem like a tune up, but it's interesting to note that the two times that the Dynamo have won the CCC, they've also gone on to win the MLS Cup so it would be nice to repeat the phenomenon which begins tonight.

This match is all about showing why Wednesday's loss was a fluke and the team will need to step up its level of play as the regular season is now just around the corner. Giles Barnes was sorely missed against the Aztex and if he isn't fit to play the Dynamo will need to move the ball quicker to force defensive errors.

The Dynamo get it done to start the tournament and are able to finish 3-1 over the host club with Bruin netting his first preseason goal.
