The Houston Dynamo continued their run of the 4-5-1 with 3 holding midfielders clogging the passing lanes last weekend against the Montreal Impact and the team finally found its scoring groove in a 3-0 win at home. Although Montreal controlled the possession game and had more than a fair amount of chances on goal, the Dynamo kept the clean sheet due to stellar goal keeping by Tyler Deric and strong defensive stands, but most importantly, they finally found their scoring touch off of counter attacks and set pieces.
Owen Coyle's starting lineup (or 1 version of it anyways)
Fan Selected Starting XI against the Impact
The fan selected squad against the Impact was pretty different compared to Owen Coyle's as it did not feature Oscar Boniek Garcia who only garnered 16 total votes. The 4-4-2 was the preferred formation, although just barely, which also saw Chandler Hoffman chosen to add some firepower up top.
This weekend Owen Coyle and you all have some interesting decisions to make with your selected lineups. We're still waiting to hear if Raúl Rodríguez will be cleared to play after having missed time since his collision with Tyler Deric against the Seattle Sounders, so expect Taylor and Horst to be the preferred pairing unless Rodríguez gets the go-ahead from the medical staff. Boniek Garcia, who twisted his knee against the Impact, is still listed on the injury report so we could see Leonel Miranda slot into the starting XI.
Owen Coyle seems to have found some success with his 4-5-1 or hybrid 4-3-3 (though it looks a lot closer to the former) and I wouldn't expect him to deviate from that plan on the road against D.C. United, but that doesn't mean he won't tailor his team to exploit a DCU side that struggles to possess the ball. Who knows, maybe Will Bruin will regain his starting place due to his ability to crank it up to 11 against DC. So who do you start against D.C. United? Who is in your XI? Let us know and feel free to comment below about your selections!
