He hasn't played a game for the Houston Dynamo but more news out of Mexico gives fans another reason to be excited.
The soon-to-be Dynamo Designated Player Erick "Cubo" Torres has earned his first call-up of 2015 to the Mexican National Team for the showdown against the USMNT in San Antonio April 15.
The call-up comes at a great time for the young forward, who could earn his fourth career cap in the Alamo City after struggling for playing time during his on-loan stint for Chivas despite scoring two goals in five substitute appearances for Guadalajara. Torres made his last appearance for El Tri on October 12 against Panama.
Dynamo fans should be anxiously awaiting the arrival of the forward, who's been a hit in Guadalajara and should provide Houston with the scoring threat it needs to return to the MLS playoffs.
In other Cubo Torres-related news, he's suspended from the Chivas-Leon match Sunday after directing comments at officials after the Clasico Tapatio against Atlas last weekend.
Chivas manager Jose Manuel "Chepo" de la Torre didn't have much to say about it except for this:
"There's a sanction against Cubo, and we're going to adapt to it," de la Torre said in a news conference Tuesday.
Yeah, it's time to come to MLS, Cubo.
