More DGW Action Highlights Round 11 of Fantasy MLS

Two teams have DGW’s in Round 11 and looking ahead to other DGW’s

Anne-Marie Sorvin-USA TODAY Sports

I'm here filling in for our usual Fantasy writer and guru, Jamie Umbach, which means you're all in trouble because I am currently placed 16th in the Dynamo Theory classic rules league, and 37th in our Head-to-Head league. That being said, I usually tend to make good decisions ahead of time, but make impulse decisions ahead of the closing window (so my first bit of advice is to ignore impulse decisions - do your homework!).

The Double Game Week Teams:

Round 11 of Fantasy MLS features 2 clubs with the prized "Double Game Week". D.C. United and Orlando City SC both play on Wednesday the 13th and they'll each play later over the weekend. Typically with DGW's defenders are the bargain because they're the most likely to play the full 90 each time. DCU is primed for a strong defensive stand. Already the league's best defense in terms of fewest goals allowed, they play a below average offense in Orlando City and then an average Philadelphia Union offense. Sean Franklin (at $8.2) and Bobby Boswell (at $9.3) both look poised to reward Fantasy Owners willing to shell out that kind of money on defenders. Bill Hamid (at $6.4) could reward Fantasy Owners with at least 1 clean sheet as well.

If you're looking for Orlando City SC players, Brek Shea (at $7.8) is listed as a defender, but should feature higher up the field in a Left Winger/LM role like he did against New England. Kaka is another player that's always dangerous (and is a penalty kick taker), but Orlando City might struggle against the tough DC defense.

Looking Beyond Round 11:

As Fantasy MLS owners, we have to always look ahead for those DGW's so we can prepare our lineups so we don't end up losing points or using our Wildcards - I still have mine! The next few weeks has plenty of DGW action as the New England Revolution and Sporting Kansas City each play twice in Week 12, but before you start preparing, besides playing each other the Revs face D.C. United while SKC plays Seattle.

Week 13 features 6 teams with DGW's with Colorado, Seattle, Portland, RSL, LA, and DC United all playing twice. Week 11 is the perfect time to start getting DC players, but keep an eye on the matchups and players in form - along with DGW's, as each fantasy week progresses to be one step ahead of your competition.
