The Houston Dynamo kicked off their US Open Cup with a win over the Austin Aztex.

Rob Lovejoy had back to back chances in front of the net only to be denied by Austin goalkeeper Devin Perales. Moments later, Leonel Miranda got the Dynamo on the board after a great pass from Alex gave him room to run. Perales came out to try and make a save on the play and Miranda slotted the ball right past him into the net in the 24th minute.

Austin had several chances in the first half, but they had trouble getting them past Joe Willis. Their best chance came on a free header from Timbo, but the ball was right to Willis.

The second half had even few chances for both teams and the later the game the more Austin seemed to control the ball.

After a miscommunication between AJ Cochran and Corey Ashe, Austin's Trevin Caesar ran down the field with the ball and ripped one off at goal. Joe Willis managed to get a hand on the ball and send it over the net.

Ricardo Clark sealed the win for the Dynamo with a goal in stoppage time to give the team a 2-0 win over Austin.

Selection for the fifth round of the tournament will take place on Thursday, June 18 at 10 am CT.
