Our regular fantasy writer and guru, Jamie Umbach, is still out which means I'm back to help lead you to some of the favorable players to pick up and strategies to employ to get your fantasy squad back on track for Round 14. This round of Fantasy MLS has a lot of action and it all begins Wednesday so be sure to have your lineups ready by then.
The Double Game Week Teams:
Some DGW teams really haven't been worth investing in, and there certainly are a few this time around to be a little weary of *cough Montreal and Philadelphia cough*, but there are a few players from teams you should've already stocked up on. D.C. United plays twice this week and they played twice last week (you should have some DCU players!). The other teams that play twice this week are Chicago, Columbus, Montreal, Philadelphia, and Vancouver. Here are a few players you should really consider getting onto your squad unless you've already picked them up:
GK: Bill Hamid ($6.4). DC plays both of its games this week at home and DC boasts the league's best defense at the moment. If you (for some reason) don't have Hamid already or can't make his transfer work financially, Steve Clark ($5.7) of Columbus Crew SC has favorable matchups against the Philadelphia Union and Montreal Impact.
Def: Jeff Larentowicz ($8.0) is a top defender in the league, plays twice, AND takes penalty kicks for the Chicago fire. Kofi Opare ($5.2) is a cheaper defensive option for DC United. DC has mixed up its lineup plenty, but to the surprise of many, Opare has been one of the central fixtures.
Mid: Pedro Morales ($11.4) has been the engine of Vancouver and continues to produce for his club. Chris Rolfe ($9.0) also continues to produce, either in a starting role or off the bench. Ben Olsen has shuffled his starting group to allow some players to rest and come off the bench, but Rolfe has thrived in both roles. Chris Pontius ($7.0) is a discount version of Rolfe, but the price to upgrade is worth it if you can afford it. Harry Shipp ($8.0) is my wildcard of the week. Shipp is capable of providing Fantasy Owners with plenty to rejoice one week only to disappoint the next. Shipp could take advantage of the tired DC legs or an Orlando City SC side in Chicago.
FW: Kei Kamara ($9.1) should already be on your team. The current Golden Boot race leader is the top scoring forward in the league and is priced amazingly for Columbus SC. Get him on your team. Octavio Rivero ($9.0) has cooled off considerably from his hot start, but could be primed to notch at least one goal in Vancouver's 2 game week.
This is one week where you can cheat on your "looking ahead" homework because in Round 15 Fantasy Owners will be allowed Unlimited Transfers due to the large numbers of clubs with Bye Weeks. Take advantage of the teams that play twice and the great players available that you can pick up without worrying about their bye weeks down the line because you can simply transfer them out next week.
