The 20-year-old midfielder has reportedly flown to Houston and is in talks with the Houston Dynamo.
He has spent his career with St. Mirren coming up through their academy program. His contract expired with the team this summer and a move to the Dynamo would mean that St. Mirren wouldn't get any money for the signing. In his time with the first team he has scored four goals in 87 appearances. Wigan, Hibs and Hearts were all reportedly interested in the player. The Scottish national has played for Scotland's Under-19 team as well as the Under-20 team.
McGinn has been recovering from an injury he suffered from a prank during training camp when he was hit in the thigh by a pole thrown at him by a teammate.
Houston is currently eighth in the Western Conference and two spots below a spot in the playoffs. Last week Houston signed midfielder Rasheed Olabiyi.
