After an own goal cost the Dash three points against Kansas City, the team heads to New York this weekend for a Saturday evening match against the 5th-ranked Flash. The Flash will be coming off a 3-3 draw against Sky Blue and will be seeking 3 points that would put them closer to a playoff spot.
While Monday night's game saw the return of the U.S. National Teamer's back into the Dash line-up, the introduction seemed to create a resemblance to a team that had never played together before, the defense more than ever. After another week (and hopefully much National Team participation), the team should be in much better shape.
The Flash's rosters includes U.S. players Whitney Engen and the injured Sydney Leroux, as well as NWSL Player of the Week Michelle Heyman, who scored in her NWSL debut last week. A recent signing, Colombian Lady Andrade, who many know as the player to punch former-Flash player Abby Wambach in the 2012 Olympics, may see her debut this weekend.
With the likes of Carli Lloyd, Kealia Ohai, Heyman and potentially Lady Andrade, both Erin McLeod and Chantel Jones may see action. The real question to ask is, will Houston's defense show up?
