Houston Dash Seeks Playoff Spot Against FC Kansas City

A win against Kansas City would put the team in the 4th and final playoff spot.

Saturday night Houston handed the Western New York Flash a loss fueled partially by Carli Lloyd's anger towards her old team, and Erin McLeod's refusal to let anything past her into the net. Neither being a bad thing, mind you, but the Dash cannot continue to rely on the pair if they plan to make a solid playoff run. Although Kealia Ohai and Jess McDonald are both itching to score, and Ella Masar is settling into the defensive role well, one can only hope Allysha Chapman will return from injury relatively soon.

The team will be tested again Wednesday night as they host FC Kansas City, but the Dash will have redemption in mind; had it not been for an own goal, Houston would have defeated them in the July 20th game.

Much like any club not named Seattle or Chicago, Kansas City has struggled this year. A team built heavily around U.S. allocated players (and retired U.S. National Team members), the World Cup clearly had an impact on the 2014 NWSL Champions. The return of Heather O'Reilly, Lauren Holiday and Amy Rodriguez could be devastating for Houston's defense.

Another thing fans have to worry about is the stream of the game. The match will once again be hosted by Fox Sports Go, which had a less than stellar debut with last week's Seattle v. Portland match. The quality and availability of the stream was so poor frustrated fans were demanding the NWSL go back to YouTube for all future games.
