It was announced Wednesday that the rookie midfielder would be going on loan to Indy Eleven. Steinberger has already reported to Indy Eleven and will be available for selection this Saturday when Indy faces the Atlanta Silverbacks. This is a coming home of sorts for Steinberger who went to college at Butler.
"I'm excited to be back in Indianapolis. I was actually at the inaugural home game last spring when I was at Butler, so I've been following Indy Eleven since it became a franchise," said Steinberger in Indy's release of the loan. "It's pretty exciting for me to be a part of it now, and I'm ready to help the team get to win an NASL Championship."
Steinberger was the Houston's first pick in this 2015 MLS SuperDraft. A surprise pick at number 8 over well he had a terrific combine which led to the early selection. Houston have a wealth of options in the midfield and this will be a great opportunity for the rookie to log some game minutes. So far this season he has played just 29 regular-season minutes for the Dynamo. He played in the team's three US Open Cup games before they were knockout of the tournament by Sporting Kansas City.
The exact terms of the loan agreement have not been disclosed.
