Houston Dash hope for a high note in home finale

With their second loss to Seattle Reign FC last week at home, marking the team's fourth straight loss, the Houston Dash hope to finish strong against the Boston Breakers Sunday at the final home game of the 2015 NWSL season.

Last week against Seattle, Dash keeper Erin McLeod notched four saves against the Reign defense, but the scoreline still read 3-0 at the end of the 90 minutes. The loss was a blow to the team as it knocked them from the 2015 playoff contention. Houston also is currently in the second-longest losing streak in franchise history - last year it was a total of six games.

Looking to the Sunday game, the Boston Breakers currently sit at the bottom of the league in ninth place. The last meeting against the two teams was earlier in the 2015 season, a game which the Breakers won 3-2.

"We've only played them once, and it was very early in the year," said Dash Head Coach Randy Waldrum. "Boston is one of those teams that reminds me of us last year. A lot of our focus is to shore things up defensively and a little bit on the attacking side, just trying to create a little bit more mobility and a little bit more movement out of the players."

"Boston is a tough opponent, we'll have to be on our best game," added Houston defender Ellie Brush. "We've been working a lot defensively."

The last game for the Breakers was also against the Seattle Reign and was also a loss. While this match will be the final home game for the Dash, it will be the final road game for the Breakers.

"We want to send the home fans home with something to be encouraged about for next year. And the six points we just think are really important. We want to finish in the middle of the back and six points could put us there," said Waldrum

"We want to show the fans what we're all about and show them a really great game," said Brush.

The game between the Dash and the Breakers will kick off at 7:30 p.m. CT Sunday at BBVA Compass Stadium.
