The Houston Dash dropped their third straight match 2-0, at home against Sky Blue FC in front of 2,216 supporters at BBVA Compass Stadium.
If the Dash are still looking to make the playoffs they'll need to atone for Friday's mistakes. The play of Houston's backline was the topic of conversation throughout the match. On Samantha Kerr's 72nd-minute goal Ella Masar slid in front of the Australian forward in an attempt to disrupt her shot. While her attempt and Dash keeper Erin McLeod's sprawling dive were both unsuccessful, fellow defender Toni Pressley needed to get back to help disrupt the play.

Houston failed to get it going on offense despite Carli Lloyd's constant attack on goal. Her best chance of the night came in the 63rd minute on a free kick. Lloyd's free kick from 25-yards-out curled towards the inside post but Sky Blue keeper Brittany Cameron stepped up with a diving save. Cameron was dominant throughout the match to lead Sky Blue to a shutout.
Nadia Nadim opened the scoring in the 38th minute. Camille Levin chipped the ball across goal and Nadim scored on a diving header.
Despite the win Sky Blue FC still sit in eighth place but are now just three points back of the Dash who still hold the fourth and final playoff position. Four clubs are within three points of fourth place placing the Dash in the hot seat.
Houston will look to put this one behind them and put for the best effort forward in next Wednesday's match against league-leading Seattle Reign FC. The Dash can't continue to play the way they have over their last few games, if they still want to achieve their goal and make the playoffs.
