After a scoreless first half, Ella Masar put the Dash ahead in the 64th minute with a golazo for her second goal of the season. Sent in by Morgan Brian's pass, Masar blasted a left-footed strike from the edge of the box past Karina LeBlanc. The goal marked Masar's second straight since returning to forward last week.
Chicago managed to follow up Masar's goal with a late equalizer. Red Stars defender Julie Johnston headed the ball into the box and Red Stars forward Christen Press slid a finish past Dash goalkeeper Erin McLeod.
In stoppage time Carli Lloyd cut around a defender and slipped a strike towards goal. LeBlanc made the save to deny Lloyd of the game winning goal.
Press almost scored in the 86th minute sending a shot at goal from midfield, in an attempt to catch McLeod out of position.
Kealia Ohai didn't make the trip to Chicago and missed the match due to personal matters.
Following the tie, the Red Stars are playoff bound with a first round matchup against FC Kansas City next Sunday. Houston finishes the season in fifth place posting a 6-8-6 record, four spots higher than last season.
