The 2016 MLS SuperDraft resumed on Tuesday and Houston had the 47th overall pick. In the third round Houston used their pick to select T.J. Casner, a forward out of Clemson University.

In 2015, Casner scored 10 goals and four assists for the Tigers and won First Team All-ACC honors. Casner is a versatile player who can play multiple attacking positions. He is also a physical player who uses his pace and strength to get up the field with the ball.

The forward was ranked #37 on Top Drawer Soccer's final big board and at #30 on SBI MLS Draft Big Board 4.0 heading into the draft.

Houston did not have a first round pick in this year's MLS SuperDraft and used their second round pick to select Ivan Magalhaes.
