2016 Houston Dynamo Schedule Released

The new season is upon us and we've got the schedule and a list of a few notable games.

Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports

A new season is nearly upon us as the offseason is slowly transitioning into preseason. While the 2015 season marked the beginning of the Owen Coyle era, there were many holdovers from former head coach Dominic Kinnear. Coyle now had a season to evaluate older players, obtain new talent, and build a system that is original. 2016 will put this to the test in the highly competitive Western Conference so there is a lot to look forward to.

The Dynamo open the season on March 6 at home against the New England Revolution. The club will also have a chance to take back El Capitán in the Texas Derby against FC Dallas. This year two of the three matches against FCD will be played at home.

The month of May and early June may be a particularly difficult stretch for the Dynamo due to the amount of travel in a short amount of time. On May 7th they'll host Sporting Kansas City before traveling to San Jose for a mid-week game against the Earthquakes on May 11th. May 14th will be back in Houston for Real Salt Lake and then to Chicago for the Fire on May 21st. Next up will be the Vancouver Whitecaps in British Columbia on May 28th and finally FC Dallas in Frisco on June 2nd. The entire month of May will be a lot of going back and forth for the club, but they'll be rewarded with a break until June 18th for their hard work.

Here are a few notable home matches:

March 6 - New England (home opener)

March 12 - FC Dallas Frisco (Texas Derby)

April 10 - Seattle (ESPN game/my birthday)

June 18 - D.C. United (DC struggles in Houston)

August 13 - Toronto FC (Altidore/Bradley/Giovinco)

September 30 - New York City FC (Lampard, Pirlo, Villa)

Here is the complete schedule. What games are you looking forward to seeing or going to?
