The time has come for Wilmer Cabrera to start turning the Houston Dynamo roster into his own roster. The Dynamo’s new head coach and the front office have announced their first round of moves with the players who were on the 2016 roster.
The Dynamo picked up contract options on midfielder Eric Alexander, goalkeeper Calle Brown, defender Kevin Garcia, midfielder Alex Lima and goalkeeper Joe Willis. Defender Jalil Anibaba has signed a new contract with the team.
By picking up options on Brown and Willis the Dynamo now have three goalkeepers on the rosters as Tyler Deric was already under contract with the team.
Houston declined the contract options on defender Sebastien Ibeagha, midfielder Rob Lovejoy, midfielder Cristián Maidana, defender Raúl Rodriguez and midfielder Zach Steinberger. While defender DaMarcus Beasley, defender David Horst, defender Abdoulie Mansally and midfielder Collen Warner are all currently out of contract.
The Dynamo have said that they are in ongoing discussions with Beasley, Horst, Rodríguez and Warner.
