The Houston Dash announced on Tuesday that they have traded Allysha Chapman to the Boston Breakers. In exchange for the Canadian National Team player the Dash get an international roster spot in 2017, 2018 and the No. 15 overall draft pick in the 2017 NWSL College Draft.
Chapman played in eight games for the the Dash in 2016. She missed a large part of the season for the 2016 Rio Olympics, winning a Bronze medal as part of the Canadian National Team. The defender joined the Dash in 2015 through allocation.
“These decisions are always difficult, but we see a need to modify our roster as we prepare for 2017,” head coach Randy Waldrum said in the team release. “Allysha was a great ambassador for the organization and her country in the community and we wish her good luck in Boston.”
The trade means that the team now has six international roster spots for 2017 and currently have three international players under contract.
