Wednesday, the Houston Dash announced that they had added a defender to the roster. They signed 31 year old Brazilian Bruna Benites. As with pretty much the case with all international signings it is pending receipt of her International Transfer Certificate and P-1 Visa.

The center back has played 45 games for the Brazilian National Team. Benites appeared in the London 2012 and Rio 2016 Olympic Games for her country. She played the 2016 season for Avaldsnes IL in Norway.

The defender is the third Brazilian currently on the roster for the Dash. She joins defender Poliana and midfielder Andressa, both of whom she plays with on the National team.

Earlier this week Houston Dash announced they had traded Allysha Chapman to the Boston Breakers for an international roster spot in 2017, 2018 and the No. 15 overall draft pick in the 2017 NWSL College Draft. That trade bumped up the Dash's international roster slots up to six for 2017. While not yet official, Andressa has re-signed with the Dash which means the team will have one international roster slot left to fill.
