Last year’s starting defensive midfielder, Collen Warner, was taken in the expansion draft by Minnesota United. That necessitated a move to acquire a new d-mid, and the Dynamo have found that player.

Colombian Juan David Cabezas, of Deportivo Cali in his native country, will arrive on a one-year loan, and the Dynamo will have the option to buy when his loan is up after 12 months. Targeted Allocation Money was used in the deal, and he will be the seventh player to occupy an international roster spot.

The 25-year old won the Colombian championship last year with Cali. He joined the club in 2009 at the age of 17 and has been on loan with multiple other Colombian clubs. Cabezas formerly played with his country’s U-20 national team.

This signing comes shortly after the Dynamo signed three other Latin American players: Hondurans Alberth Elis and Romell Quioto and Panamian Adolfo Machado. He brings Houston’s roster up to 19 players.
