This is the first game for Houston in the 2016 Desert Diamond Cup. During their first set of preseason games in Arizona the team went 1-1-1 against their MLS opponents. The team returns to Arizona for the Desert Diamond Cup and this time they have David Rocha and Agus with them as well as the recently signed Abdoulie Mansally.

The Colorado Rapids have already kicked off their DDC run with a loss to the Swope Park Rangers. The Rapids gave up a 90th minute goal to the Rangers to lose 3-1 to the USL side. Former Dynamo player AJ Cochran is currently playing with the Colorado Rapids and may see field time against his former teammates.

Houston will follow this match up on Wednesday against the New England Revolution.
