The Houston Dynamo are still in Arizona and this time they are facing off against the San Jose Earthquakes. Houston tied their first preseason game against the Portland Timbers. Sending out two different line ups in each half Houston played a strong second half and notched one goal against the defending MLS Champs.

As with anytime Houston plays San Jose the story line of Houston vs their former coach pops up, however, now we are a season away from his departure and fully entrenched in the Owen Coyle era.

San Jose lost their first Desert Friendly match against the New England Revolution. The Revs scored two goals in the first half before both teams once again changed out the players on the field. The Quakes weren't without chances in the match but couldn't manage to put one away.
