García and Torres to miss Vancouver Match

With international duties for both Boniek and Cubo, the players will miss Dynamo's upcoming match against Vancouver on March 26

Announced on March 17, Dynamo midfielder Boniek García and forward Erick "Cubo" Torres have both been called up for international duty with matches to take place between March 25 and March 29 for each of their respective national teams.

García will be joining Honduras in two CONCACAF World Cup Qualifying matches against El Salvador on March 25 and March 29. Honduras is set to face El Salvador at Estadio Cuscatlan in San Salvador where it’s imperative for Honduras to not leave the field with less than perfect results after receiving zero points during the Group 1 stage if they want to keep the hope of playing in the 2018 World Cup alive.

Torres is joining Mexico’s Under-23 national team for a pair of friendlies in Portugal where they will face Japan’s U-23 team on March 25 in Rio Maior before travelling to Angra do Heroísmo where they are set to face Portugal’s own U-23 on March 28. Torres was named to the Best XI team in 2015’s CONCACAF Men’s Olympic Qualifying Championship after he scored three huge goals for Mexico. Mexico will be defending their gold medal in the summer Olympics later this year in Brazil.

The Dynamo will be forced to take on the Vancouver Whitecaps on the road on Saturday, March 26 without either player after falling 4-3 against the New York Red Bulls on Saturday where García got two assists. The Dynamo (1-1-1) are looking for their second win in their upcoming match against the Whitecaps who have two wins and one loss to their own record.
