Pick the Houston Dynamo Lineup against Columbus Crew SC

Who do you want to see in the starting XI for the Dynamo?

Bob Frid-USA TODAY Sports

The Houston Dynamo are coming off a humiliating 4-1 loss to the LA Galaxy in a game where the Dynamo led by 1 inside the first minute, but had the Galaxy capitalize on defensive and midfield errors. The Dynamo will face off against Columbus Crew SC, the reigning runners-up to the MLS Cup currently sitting in 9th place in the Eastern Conference, and are hoping to turn their defensive woes around.

Head Coach Owen Coyle could implement changes in the defense in order to shore up his backline while keeping his offensive minded scheme intact. That could include putting in Sheanon Williams over defender Jalil Anibaba, inserting in Spanish defender Agus, and giving the starting goalkeeper job back to Tyler Deric who could help organize an undisciplined back. Of course, Coyle could overhaul his system and utilize a more balanced formation in order to provide the defense with more cover. It's hard to predict given last week's "wakeup call" of a game, but changes somewhere should be on the forecast.

My Projected Lineup

While Coyle could use this as an opportunity to overhaul things into a 4-4-2 or other formation to provide defensive cover, I don't think Coyle will change things too quickly and that specific additions on the defensive end could remedy those concerns. However, Coyle was prone to adjust tactics on the fly last season given the competition so we could see a more defensive formation if Coyle were to go that route.
