Fans wait with bated breath and by bated breath I mean they are hyperventilating in the fetus position somewhere in the corner of the darkest rooms of their home. Confused? Allow me to explain:
May. June. July. August.. count them: a little over four months away from the 2016 Rio Olympics and fans across the nation are holding their breath waiting to hear what the fate of not only the Houston Dash’s star is, but the USWNT star as well. The reigning World Player of the Year suffered an injury to her right knee early into the game against the Orlando Pride.
Five minutes is all it took for Lloyd to go to the ground clutching her right knee on the artificial turn field at the Citrus Bowl in the Dash's game against the Orlando Pride. Lloyd made an every day move as she used her cleat to block a ball from a Pride player who tried to clear the ball up field. Minutes later, Lloyd was substituted out for Kealia Ohai.
The news on the block right now is that Carli Lloyd will have an MRI likely before leaving Orlando, but no other news has really been pushed out and fans anxiously wait; hoping the star will be able to bounce back.
With the recent retirements of Abby Wambach and Lauren Holiday for the USWNT and the pregnancies of both Sydney Leroux and Amy Rodriguez this could potentially be a big blow to the leadership of the Olympic team leaving Jill Ellis pretty short on options.
I think the nation stands ins solidarity in wishing well our World Cup hero Carli Lloyd!
Lloyd sent out a tweet later in the evening.
Thank you all for the support. This won't stop me. Will get an MRI and go from there. I will be okay.— Carli Lloyd (@CarliLloyd) April 24, 2016
