The Houston Dynamo will play their 8th annual Charities Cup against La Liga side Real Sociedad at BBVA Compass Stadium on May 24th. The Dynamo began their annual charity match in 2009 when they faced off against Mexican club Monterrey and have collected a 4-3 record against their international opponents.

The Dynamo have competed against La Liga competition before in their first Charities Cup match at BBVA Compass Stadium when they were defeated 2-1 to Valencia. Last year's Cup was marred by poor weather as the club was set to play Premier League giants Manchester City, but heavy rain had made the surface of the field unfit to play on. The Dynamo would eventually defeat Mexican club Santos Laguna 4-0 several months later.

The Dynamo Charities Cup is an annual exhibition match with the Dynamo taking on international competition to support a local nonprofit organization. If the teams are level after 90 minutes, then the match goes directly to penalty kicks.

While friendly matches tend to lack the competitiveness that regular season matches have, it's always worth observing international competition and seeing how the Dynamo can stack up.

Tickets will be on sales April 13th at HoustonDynamo.com. What do you think of the matchup? Let us know below!
