Houston Dynamo vs Sporting Kansas City, US Open Cup: Dynamo Host MLS Rival

Wednesday night the Dynamo host their MLS rival Sporting Kansas City in the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup Round of Sixteen.

The Dynamo beat San Antonio FC 4-0 in the Fourth Round of the Open Cup to advance to this round. While the Dynamo dominated the scoreline they had the potential to dominate the game even more but they were unable to completely steamroll the lower division team.

Sporting Kansas City had to take it to extra time to beat Minnesota United in their Fourth Round game. Their 2-1 victory came thanks to a 109th minute goal from Diego Rubio. SKC are the defending champions of this tournament.

In MLS play the two team sit in very different places for the season. SKC are in seventh place just below the playoff line while the Dynamo are in last place in the Western Conference.

The two face off on Wednesday, June 29 at 6 pm CT.
