The Dynamo got a much needed win against their MLS rival Sporting Kansas City on Wednesday night.

The Dynamo were the first to get on the board as Mauro Manotas scored his second Open Cup goal. Abdoulie Mansally crossed the ball to Manotas who slid in the box to get to the ball. Manotas alone in the box was able to score a goal and a 1-0 lead.

SKC almost drew level in the 26th minute. Deigo Rubio hit the ball to the near post but Joe Willis made an amazing kick save to prevent the ball from finding its way into goal.

Manotas almost kicked off the second half with a goal but his left-footed finished went off the goal post. Manotas had multiple chances on the night but his touch was just a little off preventing him from getting 3-4 goals on the night.

Andrew Wenger headed a corner kick back into the box to keep the ball in play in the 55th minute. Alex Lima was on the receiving end and he headed it past the goalkeeper and into goal to double the Dynamo's lead.

Former Houston Dynamo Brad Davis subbed on the 58th minute and scored just minutes later. Rubio crossed the ball and it deflected across goal. Davis tapped the ball in to make it 2-1. Davis did not celebrate his goal against his former team.

Second half substitute Boniek Garcia passed the ball to Manotas who finished the ball right past the goalkeeper to make the game 3-1 in the 81st minute.

The Dynamo will host the winner of FC Dallas vs Colorado Rapids in the next round of the tournament.
