Report: Dynamo to sign Costa Rican defender Keyner Brown

A possible upgrade to the defensive corps is said to be coming to Houston.

The Houston Dynamo have made their first move of the summer transfer window, it appears.

Costa Rican center back Keyner Brown is reported to have traveled to Houston and is now set to become the newest member of the Dynamo. Brown is currently a starter in central defense for Costa Rican first division club Herediano, having previously played for Brujas FC, Orion FC, Limon FC, and CS Uruguay de Coronado, all of which are currently in the top two divisions of Costa Rican soccer. He started 44 games in the 2015-2016 campaign for Herediano, scoring two goals.

Brown has two caps for the Costa Rica national team, coming on as a substitute in two international friendlies. His signing comes in the wake of an injury to starting left back and captain DaMarcus Beasley. Beasley, who will be out 2-4 weeks after having surgery on his knee, is part of a backline that has allowed just five goals in the past six MLS contests.
