After an impressive turnaround 3-0 victory last week against Portland Thorns FC, the Houston Dash found themselves in a familiar place.

Down a goal with less than ten minutes left in regulation the Dash stared down defeat, but Houston rookie Rachel Daly exemplified veteran poise to lead the Dash to a 1-1 draw against the Chicago Red Stars at Toyota Park.

Daly's 82nd minute equalizer provided Houston with their lone goal of the match, but enough to earn a point against the Red Stars. Daly received a pass from Kealia Ohai, took a turn and placed a clutch finish between the legs of a Chicago defender and past Michelle Dalton. The equalizer marked Daly's team leading third goal of the 2016 campaign.

The Red Stars initiated the offense early, netting the first goal of the match in the 2nd minute. Danielle Colaprico launched a low strike towards goal and past Bianca Henninger for her first goal of the season.

Chicago Red Stars captain Vanessa DiBernardo was active throughout the match stretching Houston’s defense to their limits. DiBernardo nailed the crossbar twice in the first half and had a good chance to put the Red Stars ahead for good in the 68th minute. DiBernardo’s blast on goal was cleared off the line by Denise O'Sullivan to keep the deficit within one.

Following the draw, the Dash remain in ninth place with 11 points and still face an incredible uphill climb to reach the playoffs.

The Dash will look to continue their two-game unbeaten streak next Saturday against the Western New York Flash at BBVA Compass Stadium, Houston’s last match before the Olympic break.
