Cristian Maidana up for Goal of the Week

No shocker here. Cristian Maidana is up for MLS Goal of the Week.

Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports

Houston Dynamo's Cristian Maidana is up for the MLS Goal of the Week for his amazing free kick goal against the Philadelphia Union. Maidana scored in stoppage time on a beautiful free kick that he got up and over the wall and into the net. He faces some tough competition in Kei Kamara in the first round of voting. Instead of regular poll style voting the nominees will be paired up and face off each day. The quarterfinal winners will advance to the semis, and the two semifinal winners will face off in a final. Voting runs all week long with the winner announced on Friday. The voting breaks down as follows:

Monday: Voting for quarterfinals begins

Tuesday, 11:55 pm ET: Voting for quarterfinals ends, semifinal vote begins

Wednesday, 11:55 pm ET: Voting for semifinals ends, final vote begins

Thursday, 11:55 pm ET: Voting for final ends

Friday: Winner announced

You can vote here to get Maidana to the next round.
