The Dash needed to leave their game against the Western New York Flash with three points to keep playoff hopes alive. Instead the Dash left New York with one point as they sit next to last in the standings. However, the one positive is that the team was able to score two goals on the night.
Denise O’Sullivan got the Dash on the board in the 28th minute. Morgan Brian made a great pass to get the ball to Kealia Ohai. Ohai got the ball past a defender to Janine Beckie who then found O’Sullivan at the far post.
However, the Dash would hold the lead for less than ten minutes as the Flash would tie things up thanks in part to former Dash player Jess McDonald. Lynn Williams got the ball down the field and passed the ball as McDonald ran a dummy in front of Lianne Sanderson. Sanderson shot the ball at goal and found the back of the net leveling things back up at 1-1 in the 36th minute.
As things got underway in the second half the Dash regained their lead in the 53rd minute. Ohai got the ball at midfield and dibbled into the box. She made her shot count as it found the back of the next and gave the Dash a 2-1 lead. But once again the Flash came back to tie the game. In the 53rd minute Makenzy Doniak got on the end of a cross from Williams. She had no trouble burying the ball right past Lydia Williams to make the game 2-2.
Both sides would have a few more chances to score but both goalkeepers came up big and kept the final score at 2-2.
Next up the Dash play the Boston Breakers in a midweek match up on Wednesday and follow it up with a Saturday game against the Orlando Pride.
