This move shouldn't come as a surprise to Dynamo fans. The Mexican player wasn't given many opportunities on the field — he made just seven starts in Houston over the last two years — and he failed to produce much in his limited minutes, recording only two assists. It never worked out for Cubo, and now he gets a fresh start in a new place.
The Dynamo have confirmed the move.

Dynamo General Manager Matt Jordan didn't give much away in his official statement:
"After careful consideration as a club, and following discussions with Erick, we feel at this time he will benefit from a fresh environment going on loan with Cruz Azul," Jordan said. "We will be monitoring his progress and wish him well while away on loan."
Torres plays as a Mexican youth international, most recently getting called up to El Tri's U-23 Olympic squad. Increased playing time could improve his chances with the senior team.
