Cubo Torres going out on loan to Cruz Azul

Cubo Torres looks to be heading back to Mexico.

Erick Torres has reportedly been loaned out to Liga MX side Cruz Azul for the remainder of the season; they have an option to buy him in January.

Here's some more info from local broadcaster Lester Gretsch:

This move shouldn't come as a surprise to Dynamo fans. The Mexican player wasn't given many opportunities on the field — he made just seven starts in Houston over the last two years — and he failed to produce much in his limited minutes, recording only two assists. It never worked out for Cubo, and now he gets a fresh start in a new place.

The Dynamo have confirmed the move.

Dynamo General Manager Matt Jordan didn't give much away in his official statement:

"After careful consideration as a club, and following discussions with Erick, we feel at this time he will benefit from a fresh environment going on loan with Cruz Azul," Jordan said. "We will be monitoring his progress and wish him well while away on loan."

Torres plays as a Mexican youth international, most recently getting called up to El Tri's U-23 Olympic squad. Increased playing time could improve his chances with the senior team.
