The Dynamo officially signed the former LA Galaxy defender after picking him up in the 2nd stage of the MLS Re-Entry Draft

The offseason wheels keep on spinning for the Houston Dynamo as they officially signed their pick in the 2nd stage of the MLS Re-Entry Draft. Leonardo brings plenty of experience on high caliber teams as he’s won 3 MLS Cups and 2 Supporter Shields with the star-studded Galaxy. Leonardo was originally brought to MLS on loan to the Galaxy from São Paulo in his native Brazil. Although he was born in Brazil, he is a naturalized US citizen and will not require an international roster slot.

Leonardo is a central defender and will compete for minutes alongside Agus, Kevin Garcia, and newcomer Adolfo Machado. Apart from experience, Leonardo brings quality in the air, in 1v1 situations, strength in holding attackers off the ball, and has excellent vision in predicting and stopping runs by some of the best in MLS as seen in the video below.

The Dynamo now have 20 players on their roster and are in talks with José Escalante, Yair Arboleda, and Keyner Brown with their clubs and respective loan deals. Erick Torres is also rejoining the Dynamo after his option was not purchased by Cruz Azul.

What do you think of the signing and where will he fit in with this new look Dynamo?
