Houston Dynamo vs Sporting Kansas City Preview: Dynamo looking for back to back wins against SKC

Houston looks for a road win against SKC.

MLS: Sporting KC at Houston Dynamo Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports

After getting a win against Sporting Kansas City on Wednesday night the Houston Dynamo hope to do the same thing on the road on Sunday. Both teams are looking to secure their place in the playoffs as the 2017 regular season winds down.

Sporting KC is currently in second place in the Western Conference with 48 points. The Dynamo sit in 5th place with 46 points. The race in the Western Conference has been tight all year. Right now there are only 8 points from first to sixth, the final spot to make the playoffs. The three points collected from the win over SKC helped Houston to get a little bit of separation from the other teams trying to claw their way into the playoffs.

Wednesday, Houston was able to get a home win against Kansas City but they needed some help to do so in the form of an own goal. SKC looked to have the edge over the Dynamo taking an early 1-0 lead in the game. Houston was able to level the score in the second half but it was the own goal from Erick Palmer-Brown that gave Houston the win.

The game on Sunday will be a different one than the one fans watched on Wednesday. Sunday, the Dynamo will be on the road to Children’s Mercy Park and their road form is not it is at home. Both teams were without players who had been gone for international duty but on Sunday both teams will have their full rosters at their disposals. Houston will have Alberth Elis and Romell Quioto available to start while Matt Besler and Graham Zusi will be available for SKC among other players.

The game kicks off at 6:30 pm CT this Sunday.
