Houston Dynamo goalkeeper Tyler Deric was arrested and charged with misdemeanor assault on Tuesday morning. MLS announced on Wednesday he was being suspended as a result of the charge. The filing against Deric alleges that he head-butted his girlfriend. Deric posted $1,000 bond and was released from jail. He is due in court on Tuesday according to Corey Roepken.

The Houston Dynamo released the following statement on the incident:

Houston Dynamo goalkeeper Tyler Deric was arrested Tuesday morning in connection with an alleged domestic dispute.

We take these matters very seriously and are working closely with Major League Soccer and local authorities. We support the League's decision to suspend the player pending further investigation.

The club will have no further comment until the investigation into this alleged incident is complete

In 2015, Deric was arrested after his girlfriend alleged that he drug her on the ground. She later stated that she had made up the allegation and the charges were not filed. Deric did attend relationship consoling as part of an agreement with the DA’s office.

Deric has been suspended by Major League Soccer pending investigation by the league and the Houston Police Department. The suspension means that he will not be allowed to play in Houston’s playoff game on Sunday nor will he be allowed to train with the team.
