The Houston Dynamo have completed the full transfer for Juan David Cabezas. The midfielder spent the 2017 season with the Dynamo on loan from Deportivo Cali. His loan deal was set to expire at the end of the month. The Colombian played in 27 matches, with 26 starts, for the Dynamo during the regular season as well as all five playoff games.

Cabezas averaged 4.11 tackles per 90 minutes, making him number one in that stat in Major League Soccer among players with at least 1,800 minutes played this year. He had 102 total tackles and 77 tackles won this year as well as 52 interceptions and 46 clearances. JDC scored one goal this year which came against Portland during the regular season.

“Juan David impacted the Houston Dynamo with his presence on the field throughout the season. He was a top player in the midfield for us and is a natural ball winner,” said Dynamo head coach Wilmer Cabrera via team release. “This year he showed his discipline, that he can tackle the ball, win the ball and strike the ball. He was very solid and an important element for the team to be successful this season.”

Completing the full transfer brings Houston's roster total to 15 players.
