Twitter was abuzz Friday morning with rumors that a deal was in place for Carli Lloyd to leave the Houston Dash to join Manchester City Women. Henry Winter tweeted out that there is a “strong possibility” that Lloyd will be joining the English team.

Later in the day, the Manchester Evening News reported that a club spokesman said it is just “speculation” that they have a deal in place for Lloyd. While Hal Kaiser tweeted out that the Houston Dash have not been given “any confirmation” that Lloyd is leaving. However,

If Lloyd were to depart she would join the growing list of players leaving the NWSL for Europe. There have been a number of players leaving the NWSL to head overseas to play including Alex Morgan and Crystal Dunn. Dunn has joined Chelsea in the FAWSL on an 18-month contract while Morgan is playing for Olympique Lyonnais on a half season contract with an option to extend her time there.
