Pick the Houston Dynamo Lineup against the Philadelphia Union

What starting lineup will help us get our first win on the road when we take on the Philadelphia Union

MLS: Philadelphia Union at Houston Dynamo Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports

Last week the Dynamo continued their string of unbeaten games at BBVA Compass Stadium with a 2-1 win over the Vancouver Whitecaps. The club will hope to extend their 2 game winning streak to 3 when they travel to Philadelphia to take on the Union. The Union are currently in 10th place, but have turned what was a poor start around and are unbeaten in the last 4 games which includes commanding back-to-back wins over the New York Red Bulls and D.C. United. The Dynamo have not traveled well this season as they’ve lost all 3 outings.

In last week’s win over the Whitecaps, the Dynamo showed they can get physical defensively which helped prevent some build up play by the ‘Caps. Houston was lucky on occasion that some free kicks from fouls never led to a goal, but the game plan seemed to work. Although the Dynamo were victorious, they did lose Alberth Elis to a hamstring strain before halftime. Elis is expected to travel to Philadelphia, but I have to think that with a game coming up this Saturday that Elis does not start this game so soon after his injury.

It’s difficult to predict what Wilmer Cabrera goes with as the Dynamo will have to travel to Atlanta this weekend for a game, but I think he knows that a win on the road would do a lot for the team’s confidence away from Houston. That’s why I think he goes with a similar lineup that we saw against Vancouver with a few changes. With Elis a potential scratch from the starting XI, Mauro Manotas should get the nod there. Cubo Torres will get the start at center forward seeing as he showed no effects from his concussion after extensive off the bench minutes last week. Eric Alexander is still out, but I think the midfield will stay the same along with the defense. If Cabrera decides to keep some players rested then we could see Dylan Remick in at left back over DaMarcus Beasley and possibly Oscar Boniek Garcia at RM/CRM over Ricardo Clark.
