The Bull & Its Horns: RGVFC Ready For The Republic

After a long home stand, the Toros will travel to California to take on Sacramento Republic FC.

Toros Travel To Sactown

After five straight matches at H-E-B Park, Rio Grande Valley FC will hit the road. They face Sacramento Republic FC on Saturday. It will be only their third away fixture of the season thus far.

The Toros did not defeat the Republic last season in their two meetings. They lost 3-2 at Bonney Field, before drawing 0-0 at home.

The Good Guys: Rio Grande Valley FC Toros (4-3-1)

RGVFC was off last weekend after drawing 1-1 with LA Galaxy II on May 20th. They went undefeated in May, though it was only two matches. Their last loss was to Tulsa 1-0, on April 22nd.

The Dynamo play tonight against Real Salt Lake, then travel to Seattle on Sunday. Some of the players that don’t make the travel squad may be loaned to the Toros for their Sacramento match, before facing Reno midweek.

The Bad Guys: Sacramento Republic FC (4-5-2)

A year after finishing one point ahead of RGVFC for #1 in the Western Conference, Sacramento is off to a slow start in 2017. They lost their star of 2016, Cameron Iwasa, but gained Sammy Ochoa, who scored 20 goals over two seasons with the Tulsa Roughnecks.

Republic FC has only won one match since early April. The played to a draw their last time out against Seattle on the road. They play tonight against Reno 1868 FC in the US Open Cup.
