The Houston Dynamo return home this weekend to host Orlando City. A home game is good news for the Dynamo fans as Houston has struggle on the road this season (and pretty much every season).
Beat Orlando at home won’t be an easy task. The Lions currently lead the league with six wins this season and sit at the top of the East with 18 points. They are coming off of their season loss of the season to Toronto who beat the Dynamo last Friday. The game in Houston will be Orlando’s second in four days. Arriving with Orlando will be former Dynamo forward/midfielder Giles Barnes. The Jamaican National team player was traded to Vancouver last summer and later traded to Orlando City. He has played in every game for the Lions this season but has yet to get on the scoreboard.
It will be diamond against diamond this game as Jason Kreis has switched from a flat 4-4-2 to a diamond formation. While Wilmer Cabrera switched his team to the diamond after their road loss against the New England Revolution. While the 4-4-2 looked great for Houston against San Jose they struggled against Toronto ultimately losing that game 0-2. As the game progressed the team shifted from a 4-4-2 diamond to what looked like a five-man backline. They played a highly defensive game that allowed Jozy Altidore and Sebastian Giovinco too many chances in front of goal. In spite of the defensive formation Houston had 19 shots in the game against Toronto, but only five of them were on target.
The game kicks off on Saturday at BBVA Stadium at 7:30 pm CT.
