Houston Dash vs Orlando Pride Preview: The Dash head to Orlando looking for three points

Game two in back-to-back matchups for the Dash and the Pride.

If it seems like we were just talking about Houston playing Orlando it’s because we were. Last weekend, the Dash lost at home to the Pride, 2-4.

Orlando was up by two goals by the 22nd minute thanks to goals from Camila and Marta. Camila scored in the 16th minute with an amazing strike placed in the top right corner of the net. Marta scored in the 22nd and 57th minutes of the game as the Dash defense struggled to shut down the Pride’s scoring attack. Alanna Kennedy scored a header off a corner kick from Marta in the 68th minute.

Houston wasn’t without chances putting together 15 shots in the game with 6 of the shots on target. Carli Lloyd and Poliana each had three shots in the game. Poliana scored in the 89th minute in the game. As the clock wound down on stoppage time Nichelle Prince found the net after going 1v1 against Aubrey Beldose.

With the loss the Dash dropped to 2-7-0 on the season and sit in last place in the NWSL. The Pride on the other hand are 3-3-3 in 6th place.

It was the second game for the Dash under Omar Morales who took over as head coach when Randy Waldrum left the team. Unfortunately it has looked like more of the same from the Dash in the last two games. The loss against the Pride was the Dash’s sixth straight loss leaving them without a win since April.

This week Orlando added Alex Morgan to their roster. The team waived Christina Burkenroad to free up the roster space to add Morgan. However, Morgan is still recovering from a hamstring injury and isn’t expected to play against the Dash.

Things kick off on Saturday at 2:30 pm CT at Orlando City Stadium. The game will be available to watch on Lifetime.
