Houston Dash vs Boston Breakers Final Score: Scoreless draw for Dash and Breakers

Dash, Boston split points in Wednesday night game.

The Houston Dash hosted the Boston Breakers in a mid-week match-up that was slightly delayed due to the Houston Dynamo playing (and losing) a US Open Cup game earlier in the evening. The Dash were the better team on the night but the Breakers were the team who would find the back of the net. Yet neither team would walk away with three points.

The Dash dominated possession early on pushing the Breakers back. They struggled to turn the possession into substance as their limited chances all went wide of the net.

The first real chance of the match came in the 20th minute. The Dash were awarded a free kick after Carli Lloyd was clipped. Andressinha took the free kick and found Lloyd in the middle of the box. The header from Lloyd went just wide of the far post.

Janine Beckie had a great chance early in the second half only to be denied by Prudhomme. Lloyd played the ball to Beckie who’s shot was stopped by the keeper.

Boston appeared to score the winning goal in the 84th minute only to have it called back. Adriana Leon shot from inside the box, but the ball went off of Natasha Dowie on its way to the net past goalkeeper Jane Campbell. The referee ruled it a no-goal because he thought it was a handball. Looking at the replay the ball did go off Dowie, but was not a hand ball and the goal should have stood.

Boston had a few more chances in the closing minutes of the game but weren’t able to find the back of the net again.

The Dash are on the road Sunday to play FC Kansas City.
