After the Houston Dash and Randy Waldrum parted ways on Memorial Day, fans have been wondering who would coach the team for the rest of the young 2017 season. The Dash announced on Tuesday that Omar Morales would be the interim head coach for the remainder of the season.

“This is something you dream of when you get into coaching,” Morales said in the team release. “I learned a lot from my first game on the sideline, and as the head coach a lot of responsibility falls on you. You take everything in and learn to manage the game at this level. Other than that, its soccer.”

Morales joined the team in March as a full-time assistant. He took over head coaching duties last week after Waldrum’s departure. The team lost last weekend against the Washington Spirit 2-0. When the NWSL resumes after the international break the Dash will host the Orlando Pride on June 17.
