The Dash are on a roll. After losing six games in a row the squad has turned things around and hasn’t lost in their last five games. The turnaround came during their 0-2 win over the Orlando Pride on June 24.
The Dash have struggle up and down the field this season but are starting to find a rhythm. They have scored in each of their last three games. The recent surge has helped get them to 7th in the NWSL standings with 17 points. For the Breakers part they sit just below the Dash in 8th place with 14 points.
Last weekend the Dash had a 2-1 victory over the Washington Spirit. Andressinha and Poliana both scored in the win. Poliana scored on a header from a corner kick served in from Janine Beckie in the first half. Andressinha double the scored in the 54th minute. Estelle Johnson scored for the Spirit in the 75th minute to prevent the Dash from keeping a clean sheet. While goalkeeper Jane Campbell did give up a goal she had a number of big saves helping to preserve the win.
After receiving a red card late in the Dash’s previous game Carli Lloyd was able to play in the game against the Spirit due to red card suspension. After serving her one game suspension she will be available for the game against the Breakers.
The Breakers are coming of off a draw on the road against the Seattle Reign. Adriana Leon scored in the 43rd minute to earn the Breakers a 1-1 tie against the Reign. The Breakers have struggled on the road this season and walking away with a point was a good confidence builder.
With the Dash not losing in five game and the Breakers not losing in four both teams will be pushing hard to keep their respective streaks alive. The match against Boston is the final of a three game home stand for the Dash.
Kickoff is at 7:30 pm CT on Saturday.
