Houston Dash vs Portland Thorns Preview: Dash look to keep winning momentum

The Houston Dash host the Portland Thorns this weekend.

After a much needed win on the road against FC Kansas City last week, Houston returns to BBVA Compass Stadium to host the Portland Thorns this Saturday. This match will be the two organizations’ first meeting in the 2017 season and while the Thorns sit almost uncomfortable with their record so far this season (fifth so far on the season), the Dash sit even more uncomfortably close to the bottom half of the NWSL standings at seventh.

Rachel Daly and Nichelle Prince came up big for Houston against FCKC where Prince got her second goal of the season. The two goals secured Houston’s 2-1 road win and gave the Dash much needed momentum as they return to the Lone Star State for their first meeting with the Thorns as the season inches quicker and quicker towards the homestretch before the teams need to start thinking about playoffs.

With as much positive momentum as the Dash have built, though, Portland is coming to Houston with a fire lit under their behinds. The Thorns are looking to make up for last week’s 0-2 shutout loss against Seattle.

As historical stats show, in their seven meetups the Dash have fallen behind Portland with just two wins (only one of which came at home) giving Portland four wins and one draw. The Dash will be looking to change that and walk away from the week with another crucial win under their belts.

Kick off for the game will be at 7:30 pm CT and can be viewed in stadium or on the go90 app.
