After beating the Boston Breakers in a historic seventh win on the season during a midweek game, the Dash are headed to Portland hoping to take their first win against the Thorns on their campaign for playoffs.
With a 1-1 tie at half, Janine Beckie sealed the victory for Houston on Wednesday with a nearly upper 90, beautiful goal on a Nichelle Prince assist. The win put Houston just four points behind Seattle Reign who currently hold the last slot for playoffs. The drive for a playoff spot alongside the high of a win can only mean that the Dash are going to play aggressively fighting for another win.
Portland, on the other hand, sits second in the league standings and are coming off of a 2-1 midweek loss to FC Kansas City that snapped their four-game win streak. Even though their loss kept them at second place, it didn’t allow them to pull away from the Chicago Red Stars on the standings who are breathing down their necks just three points from pulling ahead, so you can imagine a pretty aggressive match from their side too… especially in front of a home crowd.
A win on Saturday could mean inching closer to a playoff spot for the Dash. A win could mean that the Dash have finally found their footing late this season and with just six games to go, this match can easily make or break them. Kickoff is set for 9:00 pm CT.
