Houston are on the road this weekend to play the San Jose Earthquakes.
San Jose currently just out of the playoffs in the West in seventh place while Houston still sit in fifth place. With 36 points San Jose would love to take three points from the visiting Dynamo and move ahead of them in the standings and above the playoff line.
Houston is looking to bounce back after losing for the first time at home this season against the Colorado Rapids. The Rapids were satisfied to sit back and let the Dynamo have the ball which helped to stall out Houston’s counter-attacking abilities. Alex was issued a yellow card in the game which will see him sit out the game against the Earthquakes due to yellow card accumulation. After starting the game against the Rapids Philippe Senderos the defender left the game earlier due to a right adductor strain.
San Jose are coming off of a loss as well. Toronto FC defeated them 4-0 last Saturday. The Quakes have had an up and down season which included the firing of their head coach Dominic Kinnear.
The Dynamo have beat San Jose in both match-ups this season, however, this is the first time the Dynamo will face them on the road this year. The first meeting between the two happened back in April when Kinnear was still the head coach in San Jose and the Dynamo won 2-0. The second meeting came in August against a Chris Leitch lead team. However, they were no match for the Dynamo in the second half of the game as Houston scored two goals in the second half of their 3-0 victory. A third victory would give the Dynamo a sweep over the Earthquakes this season.
