It has been a brutal week for the people of Houston. If you are somehow unaware the city was hit by Hurricane Harvey which caused historic flooding through out the city.
Last weekend’s Houston Dash game against the North Carolina Courage was postponed due to the hurricane. The game against the Seattle Reign, this Sunday, will now take place in Frisco, TX. BBVA Compass Stadium, home of the Houston Dash and Houston Dynamo, has been turned into a drop off center for folks looking to donate to those who lost everything.
The Dash have been training in the Dallas area all week to prepare for the game.
The times they are a’changing
Despite all of the other things going on in Houston this week the Dash still had a busy transfer week. First, the Dash claimed Megan Cox off the waiver wire. She had appeared in nine games this season for the Portland Thorns. Then the next day they traded Morgan Brian to the Chicago Red Stars for Kristie Mewis and future considerations. The midfielder for midfielder swap saw the Dash trade away a fan favorite who had struggled with missing time due to injuries and national team duty since being selected as the number one draft pick by the team. The next day it was announced that the Dash had also traded Lydia Williams. The goalkeeper went to Seattle in exchange for a second round draft pick. The draft pick had been acquired by Seattle from the Boston Breakers earlier in the day.
The previous week the Dash had announced they had signed defender Kelley Conheeney.
The Injury Report
The Dash injury report isn’t a long one this week. Kealia Ohai (ACL) and Carli Lloyd are the two players who are listed as out this week. As fans know Ohai tore ear ACL earlier this season and Lloyd is recovering from a left ankle sprain. The newly signed Kelley Conheeney is listed as doubtful due to whiplash.
For the Reign, Diana Matheson is outwith an ACL tear and Megan Rapinoe is listed as questionable with a meniscus tear.
