For the fourth straight season, the Houston Dash will have to wait until next year for a chance to compete in the playoffs.
The North Carolina Courage defeated the Houston Dash 1-0 at Sahlen’s Stadium at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary. Kristen Hamilton scored the lone goal of the match in the 26th minute. Following a throw-in, Abby Erceg flicked the behind her and Hamilton pounced on the ball and tapped home her.

Jane Campbell continued her strong form making five saves on the night. The rookie keeper made an impressive stop with her feet in the 71st minute to keep the match close.

Houston’s offense, however, was unable to string together consistent chances. The Dash were outshot 22-8 and only managed to put two shots on frame. In the 48th minute, Houston had their best chance of the night as Sarah Hagen launched a strike on goal, Katelyn Rowland dove to her left to make the stop.

With the loss, Houston remains in eighth place with a 7-12-2 record, while the Courage 15-6-0 are now five points clear of Portland Thorns FC and have also clinched home-field advantage in the playoffs.
The Dash return to BBVA Compass Stadium on September 23 and will face the Chicago Red Stars. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 pm CT.
