The Houston Dash announced on Friday that they acquired forward Savannah Jordan from the Portland Thorns. The deal for Jordan will send fan-favorite Andressinha to Portland.

Jordan was drafted in 2017 NWSL college draft by the Thorns. The second-round draft pick spent four years playing for the University of Florida where she scored 81 goals and had 27 assists in 94 matches. She was part of the USWNT U-23 team that competed in the Nordic Tournament in 2016. Jordan scored three goals in three matches during the tournament.

Andressinha aka Cupcake quickly became a fan favorite after the club acquired her in 2015. During her three season in orange the midfielder scored three goals and had four assists in 43 games. The Brazilian had re-signed with the club last year.

The deal weakens the Dash midfield while adding to the already full forward position. Jordan will join Rachel Daly, Janine Beckie, Sarah Hagen, Kealia Ohai and Nichelle Prince at the forward’s table. The Dash are down to just three midfielders on the roster with Amber Brooks, Kristie Mewis and Caity Heap remaining. The team lists Carli Lloyd as a forward but she is often seen as more of a midfielder.

2018 will be the club’s first season led by Vera Pauw who was hired back in November.
